Suri & Company has been appointed as the legal consultant by the Indian Ports Association (IPA) to amend the Major Port Trusts Act, 1963. IPA selected Suri & Company through competitive bidding following a two stage bid process on the basis of its track record in advisory on governmental projects & PPP projects over the past 15 years. The assignment involves drafting a new statute that will supersede the existing statute regulating major ports in India, and will enable the major ports to corporatize, modernize and professionalize the management structure of the major ports. The assignment is being handled by the corporate commercial advisory team led by Sumit Aggarwal, Partner and Yogesh Bhatia, Senior Associate.
