S. Jalan & Company acted on behalf of the Board of Trustees for the Port of Kolkata in a writ petition challenging an order of the Government of West Bengal by which an area of 37.68 acres approximately was sought to be vested in the State by Escheat under the West Bengal Escheats and Forfeiture Act, 2012. The Hon’ble High Court at Calcutta directed the parties to maintain status quo in respect of the landed property in question. S.
