S. Jalan & Company, Kolkata have been appointed as lawyers for Bengal Aerotropolis Projects Limited (BAPL) is promoted by Changi Airports India Pte Limited, a subsidiary of Changi Airports International Pte Limited Singapore, Infrastructure Leasing & Financial Services Limited (IL&FS) and three Indian promoters. BAPL has entered into a joint venture development agreement with West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation Limited (WBIDC) for developing ‘Sujalaam’ – Skycity – India’s first private greenfield aerotropolis comprising an airport, an industrial zone, a logistics hub, an information technology park and a township in the Asansol-Durgapur region of Burdwan district in West Bengal, one of the most significant industrial zones in eastern India. The Aerotropolis is spread over more than 1800 Acres with the airport comprising 650 acres, separate zones for residential purposes spread over 471 acres, educational zones for schools, colleges and universities, institutional uses like hospitals, warehousing, logistics hubs, entertainment zones and other developments like hotels, clubs, museums, parks. The Aerotropolis will be self-sustaining with provisions for police stations, fire stations, petrol filling stations and places of worship within the airport city. Premier real estate developers and civil construction companies have been engaged for development of the Aerotropolis. For S.
