Richa, your piece on Foreign LLM was excellent—I just read it now-thanks for sending me copies of the magazine. I will have our library subscribe to this. Also Keshav's interview in Sunita’s piece (Cover Story) was outstanding.
Recently, I happened to read your legal magazine and amazed to find such vast variety of issues in a capsulated form. It is boon for law students. The comment on the recent ruling of the Bombay High Court on impermissibility of shares in public companies is very insightful. I also liked the way you cover all the recent happenings in the legal and corporate field in your sections Snippets & Capsules. Mediation story was also good, though the topic has been appear in each and every legal journal but the way it has been written and presented is applaud worthy. Keep it up!
I have become a regular reader of your magazine, thanks to the kind of issues dealt with in each and every edition of Witness. Not only contemporary matters like the story on Bombay high court judgment and debate on the entry of foreign institutes in India but other issues like differential treatment of foreign lenders as well the IPR cover story are also quite informative. But, one thing that I would like to point out is the lack of stories on important substantive laws as well procedural laws. Otherwise, the magazine is a mix pack of legal and corporate issues.
Lex Witness is a good magazine. I won’t say that it is the best law magazine available in the market but yes it is fairly competitive. I really liked some of the stories covered in the previous issues like copyright, surrogacy, right to information act etc. One thing that stands out in the magazine is the kind of coverage you people give to emerging fields of law like surrogacy, business immigration laws, multi level marketing, transplantation laws etc. I must say it needs a lot of courage and conviction to bring out a magazine with such variety of contents. On the other side, I do not see any story on some contemporary issues like environmental laws, judicial appointments, khap panchayats, etc. Also some hard core corporate stories like how national stock exchanges function, technology transfer procedures, corporate governance etc are missing.
Stories covered under the Educational Special series are not only informative but practically useful too. Though I am not a student yet I love reading this new section of your magazine. I especially liked the story on indispensable skills for a law graduate. It is a very well written piece giving information about the prerequisites to be a good lawyer. However, if some tips to improve practical advocacy skills would also be included in the story, it would have become more useful for new brigade of lawyers like us. I would like to point out one thing that I have noticed that over a period of time the number of stories covered in the magazine has decreased while the length of the stories has increased. Is there any special reason for that? I request the editorial team to try to incorporate more number of stories in the future issues of the magazine.
