Readers’ Feedback – August 2017

I have been reading your magazine for last few years. I must congratulate that Lex Witness has grown by leaps and bounds, both in quality and variety of content. The way you have covered latest Mental Health Act and Insolvency Code on one hand, and articles on non-compete arrangements, secure file transfers, RTI etc., show the range. Another happy feature is that people from industry either practitioners or in-house professions are contributing, which means that practical issues are getting coverage as against theoretical monologues. Hopefully you should introduce a section covering landmark judgments which are settling contentious issues.

Lex Witness is a useful and informative magazine. I am especially fond of the Buzz Square column. The updates provided by Lex Witness are extremely reliable and keeps me updated with the latest bulletins around the Legal & Tax fraternity. I congratulate the team of Lex Witness for successfully publishing such an informative magazine. Their effort of bringing quality information on the latest burning issues, from the best experts in the industry, is indeed brilliant. Hope Lex Witness sore higher with more successful editions, and I wish the team good luck for future.

Congratulations for the feature on Bahubali 2: The Conclusion under the lens of law and legal knowledge, a very interesting, educative and an offbeat article. Dr. K. Parmeswaram has wonderfully in simple words, contributed wisdom and his article shows his in-depth of legal knowledge. I am reminded of another movie Astha, where we witness a gram panchayat for about fifteen minutes on a judgement in a matter relating to laws of contracts. A villager pledges his wife to the landlord and takes money to do business in another town. He comes after three years. In between, his wife gives birth to a baby from the landlord. Landlord falls in love with the lady. Landlord refuses to take back the loan and interest thereon as per contract and release the wife. Matter reaches village panchayat. Panch call the lady. She feels better with the landlord instead of her husband since the child will have better future if she continues to remain with the landlord. Panch finally verdict that let the contract be not read literally. There is a future of a woman and her baby involved in it. Let stakeholders’ interest be the guiding parameter. Let the wife remain with the landlord. Let the villager go and buy a new wife of his choice and extra funds needed for this will be borne by the landlord. Our courts, unfortunately, do not follow such logic most of the time. The judges during hearings identify the side entitled to relief but for too many technicalities are unable to give the verdict in its favour and the wrong side becomes the winner.
