The Indian legal firm count has been increasing by huge multiples. While on one hand are the organically set up firm structures and on the other hand, are firms who have been bringing forth the legacy set ever since their inception. Lex Witness gets into a conversation over a coffee with Namrata Trivedi, Managing Partner, Raval Trivedi & Associates and unveils how a firm traverses its existence from one century to another with legal technology as one of its key pillars which has proved to be an asset in these times of Covid-19. Here’s an interesting recap.

Raval & Trivedi Associates was established in 2015 as a full-service law firm taking ahead knowledge of more than 50 Years of success stories at R.J. Raval Associates. The foundation was laid by R.J. Raval Associates; a complete litigation firm that was founded by a stalwart lawyer Mr. Ramesh Raval who began his career in the 1960s in the City Civil Court of Ahmedabad, Gujarat.

With over three decades of experience, he successfully marked his presence in India and then he shifted to the United States where he specialized in Immigration Law and started practicing it under the Umbrella of Indo-US Legal Services.

To date, he remains a key link between India and the United States. His legacy was carried forward by Mr. Maulin Raval since 1985 that further strengthened the resources in the firm and went further up the Hierarchy to Address Litigation at all Levels in India such as All-State High Courts, Tribunals and The Supreme Court of India. His commendable work benchmarks got him an elevation as recently as 2019 when he got designated as a Senior Advocate at the High Court of Gujarat thereafter practicing Independently.

He has passed on the baton to his daughter Namrata who is the thirdgeneration lawyer in the family. Namrata who completed her Law and had also pursued her Masters in Pharmaceutical Technology from The Kings College, London, UK, heads the division of Intellectual property law with over 10 years of experience in the field.

Her involvement in the firm brought in an all-new dimension to the firm’s approach towards mapping its future in the legal fraternity of the country. Over and above the already existing forte in litigation, Namrata introduced a nonlitigation fabric to the firm in the form of a full spectrum of Corporate Law and Intellectual Property Rights.

In 2015 the Capacity was enough to merge R.J. Raval Associates into a larger umbrella called Raval & Trivedi Associates, which has ever since been foraying into legal advisory as a full-service law firm.

With Namrata being the Managing Partner taking the family vision ahead, Niti Raval shoulders her in the firm by bringing in her expertise in legal aspects of Real Estate Laws, Immovable Property Documentation, Deeds, etc. She also heads the pro-bono practice and Legal Counselling Wing of the Firm.

The culture at the firm is to be transparent; lead the Industry by engaging much beyond what law firms typically do. They aim to be icons of change, set benchmarks of integrity and pace up innovation every next moment. They strive to bridge all gaps between India and the world in any form and assure proper understanding of the legalities and intricacies of law in any form or type. This ranges from basic legal aspects to high stake corporate matters of various sizes and shapes.

The amalgamation of the success stories and an expanded set of resources at Raval & Trivedi Associates strengthened the belief in enhancing skills and increasing the capacity to accommodate global clientele. The firm has been working with clientele from the US, UK, Japan, and Canada and now plans to cater to European clients as well.

They perceive Artificial Intelligence to be around the corner and therefore are motivated to innovate with time making technological advancements to the fullest. With a full-fledged in-house IT and R&D team the firm has innovated an app for better coordination amongst themselves and with their clients.

The innovation aims at prioritizing the client’s security and confidentiality as well as providing a user-friendly interactive platform. A secured and private data server is used and personalization of the application helps the client gain 100 percent transparency by keeping them updated with all sorts of critical information irrespective of the time zone they are in. Looking at the current reality of Covid-19 wherein the law fraternity is making all the efforts to keep the work going, the software innovated by Raval and Trivedi Associates has proved to be a boon for the firm and its clients. It has helped the firm stay connected to its clients and their own team remotely and conveniently. It is glad to see a legacy firm keeping pace with innovation.

It is indeed a matter of pride to have a legacy to lead. I remain focused to bring in new practice areas to the firm’s portfolio with an immense passion for the use of technology and innovation to ultimately deliver a better client experience. We as a firm look forward to our niche and yet diversified presence globally in the times to come.
