PCI recently decided to Censure the Hindustan Times, Mohali edition. Gagan Anand, Managing Partner of Legacy Law Offices filed a complaint against the Hindustan Times for allegedly publishing false, unverified and malicious news item concerning Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law (RGNUL), Patiala with the title “Patiala Law University under scanner after CAG finds financial irregularities.” As the audit objections against the University by the CAG were dropped during the years 2017- 2019 prior to the publication of the impugned news item, the newspaper was said to have violated the Norms of Journalistic Conduct and has been ordered to be Censured.
