Khaitan & Co has advised on a land mark matter the Firm represented and advised the Cement Manufacturer’s Association (CMA) and Ambuja Cements in this matter to ensurethat cement industry is exempted from the ban on usage of petcoke in Rajasthan, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh. Almost all majorand minor cement companies in India are a part of CMA. Thosecompanies which are not a part of CMA like Ambuja and Nuovocowere also advised by them. Unique feature of the trabsaction was that Cement is the only major industry to have been exempted from the ban.
