Khaitan & Co. advised Temasek Holdings (Private) Limited to acquire a 1.95% stake in SBI Life Insurance Company Limited for INR 897 crores (approx USD 133 million). The role of the firm was involved in the acquisition of the target shares from Indian legal and tax perspective.

Temasek Holdings (Private) Limited was incorporated in 1974, Temasek is an investment company headquartered in Singapore owned by the Minister of Finance Singapore with portfolio of S$242 billion as of March 2016.

SBI Life Insurance Company Limited is one of India’s largest life insurance companies and is a joint venture between State Bank of India and BNP Paribas Cardif S.A.
