Cinepolis acquires 2 Cinema Operations from DLF

J. Sagar Associates advised and assisted Cinepolis India Private Limited (“Cinepolis”) in relation to the acquisition of two cinema theatres from DLF Utilities Limited (“DUL”), a subsidiary of DLF Limited.

DUL operated the said cinemas under the brand ‘DT Cinemas’, comprising of seven screens, located at Saket and GK-II. The Competition Commission of India accorded its consent for the proposed combination on August 10, 2016.

Cinepolis, is the first international movie exhibitor to enter India and started its operations in 2009. Pursuant to this acquisition, Cinepolis has established its presence in the niche South Delhi market and increased its Indian presence to 267 screens, in 41 Indian cities.

The JSA team comprised of Partners – Upendra Nath Sharma & Pallavi Puri; and Associates – Pranav Gadi & Mrudul Dadhich.

The competition leg was handled by Partner – Amitabh Kumar; Principal Associate – Vaibhav Choukse; Associate – Ela Bali.
