American Bar Association appoints Dr. Lalit Bhasin as Senior Advisor

American Bar Association, the largest voluntary association of lawyers in the world has appointed Dr. Lalit Bhasin as Senior Advisor to the South Asia/Oceania & India committee for the term running from August 10, 2021 to August 10, 2022.

Dr. Bhasin will be responsible for supporting and guiding the Co-Chairs and Vice Chairs in keeping the committee on track by developing and following a business plan. He will mentor the Committee Co-Chairs, particularly those who are new to the role, and other prospective leaders. Also, he will manage long range planning including succession planning and developing qualified and diverse leaders.

Announcing the appointment, Nancy Kaymar Stafford, Chair-Elect, American Bar Association said, “We are grateful to Dr Bhasin for his prior service to the committee and it is my pleasure to appoint him as Senior Advisor for a period of one year. In this role, he is in a unique position to guide and assist the committee’s leadership.”

“I am honoured that the members of American Bar Association have reposed their faith in me. I have always worked with vigor towards the objectives of the organization and will continue to do so. In my previous role at ABA (American Bar Association), I have been actively working towards creating better awareness and understanding of the legal and regulatory framework between India and the US. Now my efforts will broaden to focus on the larger issues affecting business, and the synergies between the two countries to achieve a win-win situation,” commented Dr. Bhasin.

Dr. Bhasin has been sought guidance in the following domains; Supporting and guiding the Co-Chairs and Vice Chairs in keeping the committee on track by developing and following a Business Plan, having monthly calls, and engaging committee members.

Mentoring the Committee Co-Chairs, particularly those who are new to the role, and other prospective leaders. It is expected that each Senior Advisor will personal mentor at least one Steering Group or non-leadership committee member with a view to moving them up the leadership pipeline.

Long range planning including succession planning and developing qualified and diverse leaders.
