J. Sagar Associates advised and assisted Broadview Holding B.V. (“Broadview”) on the acquisition of Formica Group (“Formica”), a business unit of Fletcher Building Holdings Limited, and its subsidiary in India, Formica Laminates (India) Private Limited (“Formica India”). Formica India and its immediate shareholders were initially excluded from the transaction. However, Broadview retained the option to acquire Formica India at a later date. The aggregate transaction value is approximately US$ 840 million.

Since 1913, Formica has been inextricably linked to the invention of the original high-pressure laminate. The company is a leading provider of branded, designed surfacing solutions. With a global presence and production locations in North America, Asia, and Europe, Formica has around 3,400 employees and reported 2017/2018 sales of approx. US$713 million. Formica India has a manufacturing facility in Gujarat and accounts for approximately 10% of the global workforce. Broadview is an industrial holding company with a focus on materials technology and energy. The group currently has approx. 2,900 employees worldwide with combined sales of EUR 700 million.
