Readers’ Feedback – May 2010

This is a complete legal magazine and its past issues have covered many important topics of legalimportance. Since the legal fraternity and common man blame the long time taken in Indian courts to dispose of a case and compares it to speedy trials and disposal of cases in foreign courts, it would be ideal if the magazine covers a separate column to highlight court procedures in advanced countries. This will point out where we are lacking in our Indian legal system and what remedial action needs to be taken. I also wish Witness success.

I congratulate you all for coming out with such an innovative concept of legal writing. Views expressed in the stories make them extremely readers’ friendly and interesting, I particularly like the cover stories a lot. Copyright story in the April issue was fairly comprehensive and quite informative. I read each and every issue of Lex Witness.

You people have done a commendable job by bringing out with such a wonderful product. I must say that your endeavour for filling the void in the legal space has not gone unnoticed. The range of subjects covered in the previous issues is breathtaking. What is more interesting is the fact that some issues that you have covered had never ever been covered by any other legal magazine that I read like business immigration laws, e-waste, criminal profiling, layered voice analysis etc. Education Special Series is also very good and informative. Congrats and keep it up!

Though I like reading Lex Witness yet feel that the contents of the magazine are very shallow and there is a great scope of improvement. I find each and every article lacking in substance. I think that you need to include more judgments so that the subjects dealt with in the articles become more informative than the current ones which are glossy and superficial.

Thanks for giving us a refreshingly different magazine on legal and corporate affairs. It will indeed go a long way in educated the masses and classes alike about their legal rights and various other legal issues engulfing the society. I chanced upon reading some previous issues of Witness and found them extremely enriching. Though I am not a legal professional still enjoy reading Lex Witness.

Finally you people have listened to the crying need of law students and prospective law students and come out with this Special Education Series. It is a great effort and initiative on your part. I find it full of relevant information. However, I feel that you need to devote some more pages of the magazine to it. I liked the cover story on the proposed copyright amendment bill a lot. Other stories like legality of multi-level marketing, consumer laws story, business immigration law story are also good to read and high on information.

Article on pendency of court cases in Indian courts written by Professor Madabhushi Sridhar in the previous issue was thought provoking. Views of some eminent personalities of the legal fraternity made it even more informative and interesting. I request you to cover such contemporary issues in the upcoming issues of the magazine as well. Another article that I liked in the earlier issue was on Copyright Amendment Bill. I am a regular reader of the magazine and like it too.
