The Amity University, Jaipur, has conferred upon Shri Lalit Bhasin, a well known and leading legal luminary, an honorary Doctor of Laws (LLD), considered the highest academic qualification in the field of Jurisprudence, for his untiring efforts and immense contribution towards the development of legal systems which has enhanced the image of India globally. His exceptional vision, deep commitment and ceaseless endeavours towards justice for all and focused direction in pursuit of excellence and dedication to the good of India in particular and humanity in general are rather well known.

Shri Lalit Bhasin is one of the most respected authorities on legal matters in India. He is a highly distinguished lawyer a widely respected legal expert researcher and activist who has been fighting selflessly and relentlessly for justice for all for over five decades.

He inherited a love for law from his father and grandfather who were both eminent and distinguished lawyers and therefore he chose to pursue the study of law. His education is full of brilliant achievements and after graduating form Hindu College Delhi university he joined the law faculty.

He founded his firm Bhasin & Company in 1962. Under his astute dynamic and visionary leadership the firm is now one of the most respected legal firms in India and overseas. It is beyond doubt that Shri Bhasin has played the most significant part in putting the Indian legal profession on the international map.

He was instrumental in establishing the Society of Indian law firms (SILF) which he continues as president to lead with great vigour, brilliance and a clear sight of the future. He firmly believes and practices that a lawyer’s first commitment is to the client to the court and to the profession. Everything else is secondary.

Shri Bhasin is a professional thinker philosopher and a creator who has most significantly contributed in the diverse areas of Employment & Labour laws Corporate Law, Foreign Collaborations, Information Technology. Constitutional Law, Consumer Protection Laws and Dispute Resolution Practice. His unparalleled exertive in large-scale amalgamations and corporate litigation and arbitrations is awe-inspiring for which he is admired by both peers and subordinates.

He has held may important positions in various top class legal bodies both at the national and international level. With his great professional knowledge of law and jurisprudence, he is also the Honorary General Secretary of The Bar Association of India; Executive President , Indian Law Foundation ; Honorary Life Member, International Bar Association and the Council Member of International Bar Association (IBA)

His vast interdisciplinary knowledge has enabled him to lead and guide his firm with immense competence inspirational leadership compassion and adroitness. Most deservingly he has been awarded the Prime Minister’s Plaque of Honour for outstanding contribution to the Rule of Law. In 2007 the Hon’ble President of India presented the National Law Day Award to Shri Bhasin for “Outstanding Contribution to the Development of the Legal Profession in India and for his deep involvement and engagement in the maintenance of the highest standards at the Bar.
