Lalit Bhasin re-elected as the President of SILF

Mr. Lalit Bhasin will continue as President of the Society of Indian Law Firms (SILF), after being re-elected for the third consecutive term. The Society of Indian Law Firms is a collective of India’s top corporate law firms and the only representative body of law firms in India. SILF believes in working for the interests of the legal community in general and law firms in particular. It has been actively working towards achieving its goals with the help of its more than 100 member firms. SILF strives to create an atmosphere that will enable Indian law firms to match the technology, manpower skill and infrastructure that most foreign law firms possess. It also serves as a forum for exchange of ideas and information and a medium for interaction with the government, judiciary and the bureaucracy.

Speaking after the announcement of the election results, Dr. Bhasin said, “It’s an honour and privilege to be re-elected to the position of the President. It has always been my endeavour to work towards the progress and development of the legal fraternity. SILF will continue to contribute to the strengthening and evolution of our country’s legal system, supporting it in all its efforts. I look forward to working with the new office bearers and making it a landmark year with all of them.”

Mr Rohit Kochhar of Kochhar and Co. Will be General Secretary and Ms Manjula Chawla of Phoenix Legal will be Treasurer. The SILF elected its office bearers at its annual election, on July 11, in Delhi. Mr Vijay Sondhi, member, Bar Council of Delhi, was the Returning Officer.

The new senior vice-presidents include Mr Rajiv Kishan Luthra of Luthra & Luthra, Law Offices; Mr Shardul Shroff of Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co.; Mr Ravi Nath of Rajinder Narain & Co. and Mr CR Dua of Dua Associates. The newly elected vice-presidents include Mr RN Jhunjhunwala of Khaitan & Co.; Mr Anand Desai of DSK Legal; Mr Anand Prasad of Trilegal; Mr Nishith Desai of Nishith Desai Associates; Mr Hemant Sahai of Hemant Sahai & Associates and Mr Diljeet Titus of Titus & Co.

The joint general secretaries include prominent names from the legal fraternity, such as Mr Aseem Chawla of MPC Legal; Mr Manoj Kumar Singh of Singh & Associates; Mr Manoj Kumar of Hammurabi & Solomon and Mr Darshananand Gour of Gaur & Co. Law Firm. The new Assistant Secretary is Mr Sudhir Kumar from the India International Jurists and associate secretaries are Mr Anshuman Sood of Virender Sood & Co and Mr Vipul Maheshwari of Maheshwari & Co.
