Amongst several other knowledge driven initiatives in the legal space, Lex Witness comes across a special one that yet again furthers the power and need to building young India. MCO Legals and KIIT Law School have come together to further the growth opportunities available to students today. Lex Witness shares excerpts from its conversation with Amit Mohaan Meharia, Managing Partner, MCO Legals and Prof. N.K. Chakrabarti, Director, KIIT Law School. As our bit to the initiative, Lex Witness has committed to publish select articles with lifetime subscription to the student authors.
MCO through its dedicated research wing known as the ‘Knowledge Bank‘ has collaborated with KIIT with the sole objective to reach a wider set of audience with the contributions from the generation of future lawyers, who indeed have a new zest for life. The initiative has mutual benefits in store for both the firm as well as the school of law. While on one hand, the firm has been able to expand its current strength and bandwidth as far research is concerned, the students of the KIIT Law School get an opportunity to be part of the firm, attend various legal conferences, and have their articles with their presence acknowledged across various media like the firm’s website. On successful completion of the assignment each learner receives monthly stipend. Also, their articles have been given due recognition in publications like, ‘The First Light’ and Lex Witness – India’s 1st Magazine on Legal & Corporate Affairs.
The success of any association, specially organically developed ones like these, depends on various parameters. The benefits to students cannot just be limited to a long term relationship with MCO, development of their research skills, recognition of their work in various publications, their articles published as White Papers, emailers to the opinion builders in the industry, of course with due recognition and credit. Additionally, career driven benefits like internship opportunities, job offers of a Paralegal Associate/Legal Associate, opportunity to attend various conferences, in addition to a monthly honorarium as stipend.
MCO believes, that to have an updated and knowledge dedicated legal practice entity, it is crucial that to carry out extensive research to expand an individual’s knowledge base and stay updated on the same. Further, MCO holds that knowledge is meant to be shared. The main vision behind such collaborations, is to foster research development both in the field of academics and industry.
What according to you remains the importance of knowledge sharing for the younger India? Quoting Neil Armstrong, “In much of society, research means to investigate something you do not know or understand”. Hence, organizations in association with universities can createa sea of knowledge sharing opportunities. The importance of knowledge sharing lies in the fact that it adds up to the knowledge that the young India possesses. It helps the younger generation generate new ideas, develop additional research skills and improve their communication skills as well. It plays a very vital role in the learning process.
MCO is honoured to have the opportunity to contribute its time and efforts towards building an all new pedestal for law students. KIIT Law School has been a perfect match to our thoughts and successful implementation on ground to create a seamless flow of knowledge to yield results that would benefit the students, our clients, the society and thence the nation at large. Lex Witness’ support to the initiative is a major sign of encouragement to us and will undoubtedly help us carve out a success story
I welcome MCO Legals and now Lex Witness to this knowledge driven association. Seldom do we see enterprises coming forth to delve into pureplay knowledge sharing aspects at this level. The faculties and students of the school will get greater opportunity to publish their creativity beyond our in-house journals, KIIT Journal of Law and The Society and KIIT Students Law Review
