A Lex Witness Knowledge Series Exclusively for In – House Legal, Regulatory & Compliance Professionals

By 25th May 2018, Indian businesses will have to follow the GDPR, or face the consequences of non-compliance. The Regulation mandates considerably tougher penalties than the DPA: organisations can expect fines of up to 4% of global annual turnover (NB turnover, not profit) or €20 million – whichever is higher! The GDPR imposes new rules on companies, government agencies, non-profits, and other organizations that offer goods and services to people in the European Union (EU), or that collect and analyse data tied to EU residents.

One of the major facets of this regulation is that it extends the scope and application of the EU law to outside the borders of Europe. Legal complications of all sorts continue to exist, making compliance much more complex and difficult to achieve. The consequences of being non-compliant can be severe. Yet, despite the staggering penalties for non compliance, many organizations continue to struggle being GDPR ready.

It is with this background that Lex Witness commenced a dedicated knowledge series on EU GDPR as a subject in association with its knowledge partners from various domains of expertise. The topical subjects covered aimed to focus on all possible check list aspects that one would need to know to combat with the EU GDPR compliance asks. Here’s a visual overview of the debut sessions in New Delhi & Mumbai last month. The sessions included;
