Indian Lawyers Association Successfully Organizes ILACON 2018

On January 1, 2018, Indian Lawyers Association in India was launched, and in only six months 100 chapters in the largest 100 cities of India. With a view to keeping the spirit of justice alive among the Indian society, it is important that the 1.3 million lawyers, across the country have an organization that unifies them and provides a platform where members can network, exchange ideas, mentor, connect to create more wealth, and altogether strengthen the legal community.

ILA has been formed to shape the future of the legal profession of India. In order to act as an ally and advocate for the members, ILA is committed to enable opportunities for quality professional development and advance the rule of law throughout India.

ILA has made more progress in a few months than any legal organization in the last 70 years of independence, or in 245 years of law in India.

In order to fulfill their vision, ILA has held events in chapters on a monthly basis.

ILA held its first ever Annual National Conference on 22nd December 2018 at Taj Palace, New Delhi. ILACON was attended by people from all walks of the legal professions representing 50 different cities. It was the first time ever that the young lawyers of this fraternity were able to rub shoulders with the senior lawyers and ask questions in an open forum.

Industry stalwarts like KTS Tulsi, Priya Hingorani, Aditi Chopra, Maj. General P.K. Sharma, Hrishikesh Datar were amongst the speakers. Law firms like Nishith Desai, SS Rana & Co. and Desai & Dewanji participated in the event. Panels like “How to pitch to a GC?”, “How to market yourselves?” “Law and Technology”, allowed the younger lawyers to engage and learn from their seniors.

The event was held at the prestigious Taj Palace Hotel, New Delhi and was attended by 1300 lawyers with a lavish cocktail reception in the evening with a live band. An exhibition area hosted stalls for the partners and firms of the legal fraternity.

The grand success of ILACON 2018, is also owed to the law students, interns and other established professionals of the law community who worked tirelessly behind the scenes taking full responsibility of various activities leading up to the event, giving the fresh minds, an opportunity to be a cause for change.

Dr Bhasin and Mr Chandiok applauded the efforts of ILA and asked the legal community to stand up for change for themselves. ILA aims to reach 300 chapters in the next 2 years and partner with 500 universities.

ILACON 2018 is a groundbreaking initiative towards uniting our country and building a community with individuals and organizations of various backgrounds to advance the legal profession of India!
