The Indian legal fraternity is going through a sea change in terms of the layered structure of the firm pyramid. Firms are now climbing up the market share ladder and moving towards the top layer of the firm. It was indeed a pleasure for Lex Witness to converse with Niraj Singh, Partner, RNS Associates and learn more on this. The firm recently bagged the Best Firm in Banking & Insurance Sector at The India Legal Awards 2019. Niraj Singh was also awarded as Litigation Counsel of the year 2018 (Dispute Resolution) by INBA.
RNS Associates consists of qualified and experienced professionals with unmatched acumen and knowledge in diverse practice areas managed and headed by self and Ravi Kishore who is also a Managing Partner at the firm. We strive to bring in respective expertise and experience on the table which is a blend of litigation, advisory to the clients globally not only on compliance and regulatory issues but various other mandates as well.
Trusted by generations of clients, we have a distinguished record representing clients. The primary focus of our work is delivering innovative legal solutions while supporting our clients and their needs.
RNS has a well-experienced dispute resolution team, capable of handling complex domestic and international commercial matters. The firm works closely with various law firms of international repute in multiple jurisdictions. It is committed is to provide dedicated and result oriented solutions of the highest quality to its clients. It ensures personalized attention and time of the team with cent percent involvement for business-specific solutions.
The firm has been representing clients before the Supreme Court of India, High Courts, Tribunals, Commissions, domestic and international Arbitral Tribunal and other investigating & regulatory bodies. The firm has well-equipped offices at New Delhi, Gurugram and Noida. Furthermore, a pan India presence through associate offices in Bangalore, Chandigarh, Allahabad, Lucknow, Patna, Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kolkata, Jodhpur, and other major cities.
Needless to say, it is indeed tough to cut through the competition map the legal sector in India has. However, I have learnt through the days, that clients not only expect a quality delivery in form of opinion or strategy but they also seek due attention and commitment from their external counsel as and when required. This has led to an opportunity for passionate firms like ours to have our share in the market.
No doubt the nation is going through a very upbeat spike as far the legislation undercurrents are concerned. While it may seem very challenging, I am sure it will lead us to a very promising economy with global magnets in place. It is very important for us to bring out the best out of what we have been able to establish so far in terms of ease of doing business is concerned. The next steps will definitely lead us to tangible and positive environ overall.
I don’t think there are any specific practice areas that are completely untouched or unserved as far our current legal diaspora is concerned. Yes, of course, we might have just begun our journeys in certain practice areas. I am most confident of data protection, employment laws, sports laws, space laws and defence centric practice to see an uprise and aggressive approach in times to come.
While we have been able to develop a very strong ground in terms of the core practice areas and work domain expertise we possess, we now are looking at diversifying ourselves into areas that we have not tapped as yet. Alongside practice diversification, I am looking at all possible technological and innovation related value adds that we can bring into the firm in order to further enhance the client experience with us. Technology no doubt has become a major element of change in the legal services sector and not attending to it can become a dampener for a modern law firm.
Law definitely is a profession to be pursued. Apart from the academic excellence, one has to be very careful while making a choice when it comes to creating a balance between their skill set and what they are passionate about. Generally, student executives tend to get distracted merely by the obvious view, but it is critical to deep dive and unlearn all parameters involved. I strongly recommend going through the external counsel journey before pursuing an in-house counsel role. It would certainly add in value to their profile.
